Billing Metrics

📊 What is the Billing Metrics Report?

This report's main function is to show you the exact number of conversations that will be billed to your account and help you estimate your monthly spending projections.

⚠️ Critical billing clarification: Billed conversations are dictated directly by Meta, and operate under a strict 24-hour window scheme. This differs from the rest of Atom's operational reports, where a "conversation" remains open until an agent or the bot assigns it a closing classification (regardless of how many days pass).

🔍 Available filters

To analyze your costs with precision, you can segment the information using these filters at the top:

  • Conversation start date: The exact date when the conversation started on Meta's servers (that is, the date on which the billing charge applies).

  • Channel: Allows you to filter by the specific WhatsApp phone line associated with your account.

🧩 Tab: Metrics (Key Indicators)

This view centralizes the financial data from your lines. Here you will find:

  • Contacts: Represents the number of unique people (phone numbers) who have initiated at least one billable conversation in the selected period.

  • Billed conversations: The total volume of conversations counted and billed by Meta in the period. This is the number that will impact your final invoice.

  • Monthly projection: An intelligent calculation based on your average daily consumption, which projects what your spending will be for the remaining days of the month. (Note: Only applies to the current month in progress).

  • Billed conversations accumulated and projected by day: A trend graph (cumulative line) that shows how your budget is being consumed throughout the month, relying on the projection to predict the final closing.

  • Billed conversations by origin: A pie chart that visually divides what percentage of the billing was initiated by the user (Inbound) and what percentage was initiated proactively by your company (Outbound).

  • Billed conversations by group: A table that estimates the cost distribution according to the different teams in your company. (Note: The "No group" value corresponds to those automatic or abandoned conversations that never reached assignment to a human agent).

  • Source of billed conversations: A table with a deeper breakdown of what exactly triggered the billing of the conversation.

💡 Important considerations for your analysis

For your financial reports to match perfectly, keep these two golden rules in mind:

  1. The "Closed Month" rule: Make sure to perform all your cost financial analyses on months that have already ended. During the current month, Meta's billing remains open and the data will continue to update, so the numbers will fluctuate.

  2. How to calculate billing by Groups: Meta only delivers a general consolidated total of the amount spent by the line; it doesn't know which Atom "group" handled the chat.

    • To solve this, Atom creates a percentage distribution based on the conversations that your teams managed to close/classify.

Recommendation: Take the participation percentage of a group (in the "Billed conversations by group" table) and multiply it by the total billing that Meta indicates to obtain the estimated cost of that department.

💰 How to attribute costs by area or campaign?

If you need to divide the invoice between the different departments of your company (e.g. Sales, Support, Marketing), follow these methods:

📌 To attribute operational costs (Daily volume):

  1. Go to General Report > Traffic Origin tab.

  2. In the section "Conversations Initiated by origin type", visualize what channel or traffic type generated volume on specific days.

  3. You can also rely on the Service Level report, which will show you exactly how many interactions each group managed.

📌 To attribute outbound campaign costs (Marketing):

  1. Enter Outbound Report > Detailed tab.

  2. Go to the section "Detailed outbound general summary" and filter by the previous month (closed month).

  3. Download the report and audit the "Amount sent" column. There you will see the exact name of the campaign and the number of messages it triggered.

  4. With that volume of successful sends, you will be able to attribute the exact portion of the invoice to the Marketing team or the agency responsible for that campaign.

Take absolute control of your WhatsApp budget! 🚀

Understanding the Billing Metrics report allows you to stop guessing and start attributing exact costs to the correct departments and campaigns, optimizing your investment and avoiding surprises at the end of the month. ✅
