Migration of Official WhatsApp Provider to Atom
In this article we will show you the details to perform a migration of a WhatsApp API account to Atom.
What is number migration?
Number migration refers to the process of transferring a phone number registered in the WhatsApp Business API to another account. This practice is especially useful for companies that wish to change BSP (Business Solution Provider) or move their number to a new account. However, it is important to note that migration is only possible if the Facebook Business Manager ID is the same in both accounts.
A migration process cannot be performed if the Business Manager is different.
Below are some fundamental considerations to keep in mind during the migration process:
Templates (Templates messages)
During this migration process, only high quality message templates are transferred. These templates are copied to the destination of the WhatsApp Business API (WABA) account. There is no need to review these templates again and they can be sent immediately. However, low quality, rejected or pending templates will not be migrated.
It is important to note that message and chat history will not be migrated through this process.
Billing
The cost of migration messages sent before the process is charged to the source BSP. On the other hand, messages sent after the migration will be charged to the destination BSP. If messages are sent from the source that are not delivered before the migration, these messages will still be charged to the source BSP once they are delivered.
Green Check
Official business accounts (OBA) can be migrated between different WhatsApp Business API (WABA) accounts. The only requirement to carry out this process is to disable two-factor authentication during the migration. Once the number migration is complete, it is possible to re-enable two-factor authentication.
What should I do to migrate a WhatsApp API number?
Valid Facebook business identification: You must check that the business manager is correctly verified. If the verification has been lost, it will be necessary to follow the corresponding process to recover it before carrying out the migration. Also, make sure that the number to be migrated is associated with the business manager to be migrated.
Business Manager Access: It is essential to have administrator access to the Business Manager account in which the WhatsApp API number is active. This will guarantee the ability to manage the migration appropriately.
Access to the phone number: It is required to have physical access to the SIM card of the number you want to migrate. This SIM card is essential to receive a 6-digit PIN code via a text message or phone call, and thus carry out the migration process. If you do not have the SIM card, it will be necessary to manage a replacement through the corresponding telephone provider.
2FA disabled: Verify and confirm with the old BSP (Business Solutions Provider) that two-factor authentication (2FA) is disabled for the existing WhatsApp business API. This measure is necessary to complete the migration process without problems.
