WhatsApp API Account Activation: First Steps
To have a WhatsApp API account you must meet META's requirements and verify your business in Business Manager, this includes following WhatsApp's commerce and business policies and being a notable business.
As explained in the article WhatsApp API, to access this type of WhatsApp accounts, companies use the services of third parties called Business Solution Providers (BSP), companies authorized by META. At ATOM we are official META partners. To have a WhatsApp API account you must meet META's requirements and verify your business in Business Manager, this includes following WhatsApp's commerce and business policies and being a notable business. At the moment, WhatsApp allows the activation of the API with two options: 1. Verified Business manager - No restrictions ✅ 2. Unverified Business manager - ⚠️ With limitations to send outgoing messages on average 50 to 250 messages in 24hrs. Here we teach you how to check if your Business Manager is verified
IMPORTANT: If you want to add an additional Whatsapp number, this must be added in a new WhatsApp Business Manager. This is very important because if you add a new number to the same WABA, the new number connects, but the one that was previously connected disconnects.
Step by step to activate your account:
Step 1: Go to the Configurations > Platform > Channels > Create Channel section
Step 2: Select Whatsapp, the corresponding bot and click on Continue
To enable the number, we must follow three steps that the Meta platform will guide us to link our account with Atom.
First, it will ask us to select our Meta business account that will be linked to that number.
Then we will create our new WhatsApp profile, selecting the option shown in the image:
In step 2, we must add the registered legal name of the business and, if it is different from the display name, attach the URL of the web page to validate it.
In step 3, we select the country code and receive a confirmation code to verify the number.
Once verified, we can use our WhatsApp and select the business manager account that we just activated and select the number that we just connected.
It is only necessary to click once on save and wait a few minutes for the process to complete.
Once saved, a pop-up window will appear to connect and that's it, we have our WhatsApp channel connected.
