How to Use Parameters in Your Flows to Improve the Quality of Your Communication with Customers

In this article, we'll tell you what parameters are for and how they can add personalization and agility to your conversations and flows.

What are parameters and what are they for?

Parameters are variables that allow you to insert personalized information into messages and workflows within different parts of the Atom platform. This allows your message to retain a personal touch, for example, when you configure a template, adapting the messages to the specific data of each customer or interaction. First, we must add the parameters in the messages, and then they will be replaced by real data at the time of the corresponding sending.

Where and how can I use them?

Parameters can be used in different Atom modules of the platform, such as the following:

  • Marketing or remarketing campaigns: You can address customers using their name or specific data, which increases the response and engagement rate.

  • Flowbuilder: Adding the parameters when, for example, they are already a registered customer, or for Inbound Flowbuilder when you need to save the fields for their initial registration. You can also send information stored in Atom to your CRMs and/or internal management systems via HTTP.

  • Automated Tasks: when sending information through HTTP request.

  • Message templates

  • Quick Replies

  • WhatsApp Flows

  • Atom's own APIs for Customer and Template management

A common example of personalization is to include the last name, first name, or full name in the messages. Instead of sending a message like "Dear customer", you can send a message like "Dear Mr./Ms. [Last Name]", which generates a closer connection.

Below, we show you a practical example of how to add parameters in a campaign template in a Flowbuilder flow.
